Bahia Scarlet Birdeater tarantula is a moderately fast moving spider that tends to be bold and at times aggressive. However, Bahia scarlets tend to be less aggressive than the majority of other types of bird eating tarantulas. This arachnid is native to the Bahia region of Brazil, but can also be found in Peru, Bolivia, and in parts of the Amazon delta. The Bahia scarlet is a one of the largest and heaviest types of pet tarantulas. Adult Bahia scarlet tarantulas have an average leg span of 8-10 inches and some large individuals can weigh as much as 8-12 pounds; females are larger than males. Bahia scarlet tarantulas are scarlet red with dark brown or black legs and have cream coloured markings on their leg joints.
